Winter Holidays with MTS

In November 2008 MTS branch in Rostov region expanded its Mobile Guide portal for winter tourist season. The current service has information about cities and countries often visited by subscribers. Now the portal offers tourist information about Finland. Besides a traditional Finland information, the portal now has information about winter fun activities and holidays celebrated in Finland.

Mobile Guide is a special information portal of MTS for tourists. At present the portal provides information about Moscow, St. Petersburg, Krasnodar region, Germany, Austria, and Finland. The information is constantly updated and expanded.

Subscribers of MTS can subscribe to the service by sending USSD request *131#. In reply a subscriber will receive an SMS message with a WAP link to the portal’s home page. At the portal a subscriber can select information linked to the region he is currently in . The region will be identified automatically. In the case a subscriber sends the USSD request while visiting a region about which there is no information on the portal, he will be advised to select a region manually.

MTS subscribers pay for GPRS traffic according to their plans while browsing the Mobile Guide. Also there is a single charge for information requests like addresses of cafes, bars, or restaurants. Prior to providing the content, subscribers will be informed about the price of the service. After confirming a subscriber’s willingness to pay, he will be provided with access to the page, and his payment will be withdrawn from his mobile account.
