How do USSD subscription information flows to OSS/BSS components? If a new subscription request sent through USSD hits MSC->VLR -> HLR then at what point of time does it flow into billing and CRM

  2. Hi Ivan,
we have released a free USSD Gateway based on Sigtran:
    MAP – (USSD)
    TCAP
    SCCP
    M3UA
    SCTP – (lksctp)
We have started testing it, but if someone want’s to jump into the ussd world with a very low investment, he may be interested.

  3. To Nishi:

You need a USSD center which is connected to a billing platform of your operator. Not all USSD gateways would provide this functionality. But, for example, our center does provide charging functionality through the IN platform.

    Therefore, MS->MSC->VLR->HLR->USSDC< ->BP

  4. To Alejandro Leib:

Interesting info, thank you. However, mobile operators usually require scalable and more powerful solutions.

Your prospective customers are still mobile operators, right?

  5. Hi Ivan,
our USSD Gateway pass well over 1000 transactions/sec and more than 256k simultaneously open ussd dialogs.
Usualy, ussd services are not related to billing, and if its the case, the billing is made by the application itself, not in the gateway.
Also, you can scale the solution (need more than 1000 transaciton/sec??) or make it redundant thru HLR built in capabilities.

Informative. I’ll subscribe on your RSS. Will it be continued?

  7. Metin Sezer says:

    Hi,
Could you please give me some information about USSD and the UMB.
I would like to build a menu on the phone and send/receive USSD messages.
What are the type of the messages we send to the USSD gateway, how to interpret the USSD we get back.

    Thanks
    Metin Sezer

  8. To Metin:

USSD is programmed not on the handset level but on the level usually called USSD center or gateway.

Programming depends on the interface provided by the developer of the Center.

If you need more info, do not hesitate to ask.

    Ivan

  9. Nitin says:

does these services are supported on MTK platforms …if supported then i get a error saying as “Sending USSD Error” ….wat could be the possible reason…

    please help ….

  10. Dear Nitin:

Need more info: what is your network, what number do you dial?

    Thanks,
    Ivan
